Obituary of Manuel A Almeida

Manuel Acacio Almeida, of 90 years of age, of the city of Elizabeth,Nj, has passed away on December 22,2022 in Cornell Nursing Home of Union,Nj. Manual Acacio Almeida was born on August 21,1932 in the Aldeia De Folgosinho, Gouveia, Portugal to Manuel Joaquim Martins and Umbelina Almeida. Manuel served his country proudly in the Portuguese Army in his young adult age. At just the age of 14 he learned the craft of shoemaking and was known through all in the town as the Sapateiro. He was an honorable tradesman in his craft and carried it proudly throughout his career. He was a loyal husband, a loving father, and a wonderful grandfather who always stood by his family.  He chased the American dream to provide his family with every opportunity to succeed in this life. They settled in Elizabeth,Nj and made this dream into a reality. Manuel worked at Menasha Packaging Company for 15 years while providing for his growing family. Although he left his home of Folgosinho to build this better life, he was always remembered and honored as the Sapaterio in his hometown. But to family we will always remember him as husband, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle, but most importantly as a good and noble man.  He enjoyed his passion and craft of shoemaking for decades. He was a dedicated worker in everything he took on. He loved his wife Carminda De Jesus Brazete for 67 years. Only so many could dream of sharing a love like that for so many years. He loved his country and watching them play futbol in the national stage. He loved his grandchildren as much as his own and showed them that love in every way possible by simply being there. With no questions asked he would drop them off and pick them off to school and soccer.  He is remembered by his wife Carminda De Jesus Brazete and his four children Maria Conceicao Goncalves, late son Antonio Manuel Almeida, Aurora Almeida Rojao and Umbelina Almeida Baptista. Son In Laws Antonio Rojao, Joao Goncalves and Antonio Baptista. Siblings living Antonio do Nascimento, Maria Martins Brazete, Valentina Teixeira and late sibling Aurora Almeida Cardoso. He is also remembered and honored by his 8 grandchildren Vanessa Barone, Lina Rojao, Jessica Ester, Daniel and Raquel Goncalves, Christopher and Jason Baptista and Late grandson Felipe Baptista. He is also honored by 9 Great grandchildren Gabriel Rojao Marques, Olivia Barone, Chloe Goncalves, Aiden and Antonio Baptista, SanTiago Estrada and Elise,Matthew and Raquel Ester.
