Obituary of William C. Weist Jr.

On Saturday, July 30th, William C. Weist Jr, (Bill) loving and beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle passed away at the age of 83. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Bill was born in 1939 to William C. Sr and Grace Weist in West Providence PA. He went to a one room schoolhouse with his 6 other siblings and worked on his family's farm. He would later move to Maryland and then settle in Elizabeth NJ. Bill's passion for cars, trucks and driving fueled him towards a career of driving which included 18 wheelers. He drove for Twin County Grocer, Edgar Road Garage & Paul's Trucking. His favorite car was a Mercury Cougar. Bill was a dedicated and loving husband for the past 39 years to Georgeann and loving father to their blended family of 4 children, 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. His big heart was in the right place and his intentions were always good, which made him truly unforgettable. He always strived to do the right thing. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a step-son, Robert A. Foti Jr. He is survived by his wife Georgeann, his brothers Andrew & Dennis, his sisters Virginia Dodson, Lily Barton, Darlene Carbough & Coradella Bercaw, brother-in-law George Onda, his son Willie (Linda), his step daughters Dorothy Szotak (Joseph) & Ann Foti, his step-daughter-in-law Kara Worrell, his 6 Grandchildren Lisa, Michael, Robbie III, Joshua, Joey, Collin, his 6 great grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and many nieces & nephews. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Bill's visitation hours at August Schmidt Funeral Home, 139 Westfield Ave, Elizabeth NJ on Wednesday morning from 11 AM till 1PM. Service at the funeral home at 12:30 PM, followed by his burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Newark. In lieu of flowers, they family requests donations in his honor be made to the American Lung Association.
