My Dearest and only nephew, I am in a state of disbelief that you are gone. you were the smile on my face and the light in my heart. Your immeasurable strength made me always in awe of you. You battled like a warrior against the havac inside of you…my heart, I wish I could have traded places with you so you could touch more people with your light. I am forever heartbroken over losing you, Kiki. Life is so unfair and I am so incredibly proud of you for fighting as hard as you did. Throughout this three year journey, not once did I ever see you without a smile on your face. We would always talk about how happy we would both be once you were cancer free. We talked about you learning how to drive and going on college tours… words cannot express how heartbroken I am that you will never have those milestones. The world lost a beautiful soul when it lost you.
I am so sad knowing that I will never see your sweet smile in person again, but I cherish the pictures that capture it for eternity. No matter what you were going through, you were always smiling.

Christian was a student at School 16 starting in Kindergarten where he brightened my day every single morning. I would visit his class and say “Good Morning Sunshine” to his teacher, Ms Silva who was my friend. Christian with his big smile and sweet heart would playfully tell me she was HIS sunshine or pretend I was greeting him. This picture remained on my “Student Stars” bulletin board in my office until I was transferred from school 16 a few years ago.
