Obituary of Carlos E. Santos

Carlos Eduardo Santos was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He passed away unexpectedly on February 7, 2022 at age 66 and is survived by his adoring wife, Amanda, children, Andrew and Edward, daughter-in-law, Megan, grandchildren, Maple and Felix, sister, Conceicao plus nieces & nephews Paul, George, Christine, Carla, Rui and Felipe.   Born on July 21, 1955 in Cabril, Portugal, Carlos called Elizabeth, NJ home for much of his life (finally settling into Westfield) and spent his early days as a helicopter mechanic in the army. He met his partner of 44 years in an act described as love at first sight, where they met at the original family Santos Service Center Gas Station. Carlos went on to become part of the established family business - Santos Service Center - with his brother “Rick” in 1990 and eventually owned and operated the family shop with his son, Edward; providing decades of service to the community and countless friends. Carlos was not only tirelessly dedicated to his family, but to anyone who walked into the shop needing a hand. He could fix any problem, mechanical or otherwise, and was the type of person people would come to the shop to see… simply for the sake of spending time with him.   While he loved a good nap, Carlos was enthusiastically active. He was an avid cyclist and enjoyed riding in the summer, while ice skating in the winter. He was always in good humor and could be counted on for a friendly joke or to put a smile on your face. Endeared by many, he was tirelessly devoted to his family and will be tremendously missed.
