Obituary of William F. Frolich

On Thursday, September 30 2021, William (Bill) Frolich, Jr. died at the age of 101. He was the youngest child of William F. Frolich Sr. and Bertha (Gabler) Frolich. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Friday, October 8, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the August F. Schmidt Memorial Funeral Home; 139 Westfield Ave., Elizabeth, N.J. Interment is in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday, October 7 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. An employee of Singer Manufacturing, Bill rose from office boy in 1937 to Apprentice, to Journeyman, to Master Machinist. He worked there until 1982 when the plant closed and he retired. He served in the US Navy during World War II. Bill was an avid photographer, filmed the Roselle High School sports games for almost 50 years and was active in many historical societies in Union County. He was married to Ruth E. Conklin in 1943 and they were together for 60 years. Bill and Ruth lost one son, Leslie J. Frolich, who was killed in action in Viet Nam in 1968. Bill is predeceased by his wife, Ruth; his oldest sister, Betty Edwards and his sister, Sophie (Honey) Stewart. Bill is survived by his son Daniel Frolich and his wife Kathleen; son Gene Frolich and his wife Teresa; his son Roger Frolich; and his daughter Gail and her husband Carl Hoffman; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Union County Historical Society, 38 Springfield Ave., Cranford, NJ 07016.
