Obituary of Martha G. Santiuste

Martha Gordon Santiuste of Summit, NJ passed away peacefully on August 19th, 2021. She will forever be cherished by those fortunate enough to know her as a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, teacher, and so much more. Martha was born on June 15, 1949 in Summit, NJ to the late James and Jane Gordon, and grew up in New Vernon, NJ with her siblings James A. Gordon Jr., Sarah DeGiovanni, and the late Ann Gordon. A graduate of Kent Place School (‘67) and Smith College (‘71, ‘72), Martha returned to Summit and devoted her life to family, teaching, and enriching the lives of others through her warmth and passion for learning. Some of her most special memories are of summers spent in Brewster, MA with family and lifelong friends. She delighted in bringing joy to others and was always there with a smile, a hug, a listening ear, or a bag of cookies. Martha was widowed in 1988 by her husband Enrique “Hank” Santiuste, and mourned the loss of their young son Scott later that year. Martha is survived by her sons Charlie and John, daughters-in-law Jessie and Dakota, grandsons Grady and Cole, and her third grandson due to arrive in October 2021. Martha will be laid to rest in a private burial service at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, NJ. The family is planning a celebration of her life for the spring of 2022.
