Obituary of Mary Louise Wilson O' Connor

MARY LOUISE O’CONNOR WILSON, 83 Mary Louise O’Connor Wilson, of Morris Township, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2016. She was 83 years old. Mary Louise was born in the Bronx and lived in Tenafly, New Jersey. Mary Louise, her mother and two brothers moved to Millbrae, California, after the untimely death of her father, William H. Murray, in 1945. Mary Louise returned to New York after graduating from Burlingame High School. She met and married Richard R. O’Connor, a former New Jersey Superior Court Judge, while living in Brooklyn Heights. Mary Louise led an active life in charity and politics. She was the State Chairman of the 1971 New Jersey Symphony Ball in Newark and the former President of the Women’s Committee of the New Jersey Symphony. She was a former member of Newark’s Archbishop’s Board and the Mother Seton Guild. She is also a former volunteer at the Immaculate Conception Church, The Pingry School, St. Elizabeth Hospital and St. Benedict’s Preparatory School. She also worked for numerous political campaigns and was a special guest at the 1984 Democratic Convention. In the mid-nineties, Mary Louise met her second husband, Andy I. Wilson. They married in 1997 and travelled the world together. Mary Louise loved sharing her adventures and experiences with her family and friends. They can tell you all about her spirit, great sense of humor and love of life and family. She is survived by two sons, Richard R. O’Connor, Jr. and Martin B. O’Connor, II, daughter-in-law Jane Sarkin-O’Connor and her grandchildren Katherine S. O’Connor, Richard R. O’Connor, III, Robert I. O’Connor, Lauren B. O’Connor, Ryan W. O’Connor and Reed M. O’Connor. She was predeceased by her husband Andy I. Wilson and her brothers William Murray and Robert Murray. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2016 from 4:00 p.m.– 9:00 p.m. at August F. Schmidt Memorial Funeral Home, 139 Westfield Avenue, Elizabeth, New Jersey with Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 6, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ the King, 16 Blue Mill Road, New Vernon, New Jersey.
