Palmira S. Fernandes, 89, of Elizabeth died at her home on Thursday. Relatives & Friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral on Monday June29, from the August F. Schmidt Memorial Funeral Home, 139 Westfield Ave., Elizabeth at 8:15 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Fatima RC Church, Elizabeth at 9:00 AM. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visiting Sunday 4-7 PM.
Palmira was born in Lisbon, Portugal & came to this country & settled in Elizabeth in 1960. She was employed as a Laborer for the Singer Company, Elizabeth before retiring. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Elizabeth.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years Mario Couto Fernandes. A son Joe Fernandes & his wife Maria (Lola) of Kenilworth. A daughter, Linda Bailis & her husband David of Bethlehem, PA. Grandmother of David & Kevin Fernandes, Ryan, Kaitlyn & Sean Bailis.
