Obituary of Aureliano A. (Lenny) Pires
Aureliano (Lenny) Augusto Pires, 73, of Surfside Beach, SC and former longtime resident of Elizabeth and Linden, NJ, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family on July 26th at Overlook Hospital.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral on Thursday August 1st from the August F. Schmidt Memorial Funeral Home, 139 Westfield Ave., Elizabeth, at 8:00 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Fatima RC Church, Elizabeth at 9:00 AM. Ceremony at Rosehill Cemetery and Crematory to follow. Visiting Wednesday July 31st 4-8 PM at August F. Schmidt Memorial Funeral Home.
Lenny was born in Folgosinho, Portugal in 1945 and came to the United States of America in 1954, settling in Elizabeth, NJ. He was employed by Linden-Roselle Sewage Authority, Linden NJ, for many years before retiring to Surfside Beach, SC. As a member of the US Army, he was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam era.
Lenny is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Judy Pires, son Anthony Pires and his wife Alexis of Staten Island, NY, two daughters Danielle Lorenzetti and husband Andy of Fanwood, NJ and Michelle Baftjari and husband Edis of Manalapan, NJ, sister Eulalia Tenreiro of Union, NJ, sister in-law Jeanne Pires of Richlands, NC, brother in-law Bruce Bigalow of McNeal, AZ and grandchildren Dallas, Austin, Jackson, Parker, Addison, Nina, Madison, Taylor, Gianna, and Emma, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Jose Joaquim Pires and Maria Adelina (Bento) Pires, his brother Joseph Pires and brother in law Antonio Tenreiro.
