Obituary of Anita M. Baylis

Anita M. Baylis (nee Morkis) 87, of Jackson, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2019  at Bartley Health Care in Jackson, NJ.  Friends and family are kindly invited to share memories and stories during visitation at August F. Schmidt Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, February 1st from 4pm to 7pm.  All are also welcome to attend the funeral at the August F. Schmidt Memorial Funeral Home, 139 Westfield Ave., Elizabeth on Saturday, February 2nd at 9:15am.  Following, the funeral mass will be held at the church of Anita’s childhood, Sts. Peter & Paul RC Church, Elizabeth at 10am.  Interment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the “Baylis Memorial Hall” fund c/o Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, 113 North New Prospect Road, Jackson, NJ 08527 or the American Heart Association.

Anita was born and raised in Elizabeth and moved to Jackson 45 years ago.  She was employed as a secretary for Smith & Solomon Trucking Co., New Brunswick for many years.  She was a communicant of Sts. Peter & Paul RC Church, Elizabeth.  Anita was happiest when she was spending time at the Jersey shore, walking the boardwalk, eating ice cream, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.  Anita also loved being the caller for bingo games with her family and had the outstanding ability to read three books at a time and know exactly what was going on in each!

Anita is predeceased by her son, Robert M. Baylis.  She is survived by seven daughters and two sons. Linda Santo and husband, Barry, of New Smyrna Beach, FL; William J. Baylis and wife, Janice, of Lake Como, NJ; David Baylis and wife, the late Ellen, of Windsor, NY; Dawn Jerulle and husband, Terry, of Naples, FL; Janet Myrehn and husband, Timothy, of Indianapolis, IN; Lisa Olsen and husband, Clifford, of Jackson, NJ; Susan Capalbo and husband, Robert, of Point Pleasant, NJ; Holly Perry and husband, Thomas, of Ft. Dix, NJ; and Mary Rice and husband, Scott, of Holmdel. She is also survived by two sisters:  Francine Delfino and husband, Tony, of Roselle Park, NJ and Janet Meehan and husband, John, of Lake Worth, FL.  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
