Ruth Morgan Kurtz, 94, of Ocean City died on (Tuesday, July 4) at the
Shores at Wesley Manor, Ocean City. Relatives & Friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral service on Tuesday, July 11 from the August F. Schmidt Memorial Funeral Home, 139 Westfield Ave., Elizabeth at 11:00 AM. Interment Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Visiting Monday 4-7 PM & Tuesday 10 – 11 AM.
She was born in New York City. She resided in Roselle Park in the family home for 90 years. She is predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Albert G. Kurtz. There are no immediate survivors, but she leaves 2 cousins, Martha & her husband James Grant of Margate, NJ & John Ewalt & his wife Ann of Annapolis, Md., & their families. She also leaves nieces & nephews, neighbors & many friends.
She moved to Ocean City on her 93rd birthday to be near family. Ruth graduated from Douglas College (formerly NJ College for women) with an English major. She obtained a Master’s Degree from Rutgers University in Elementary Education & received supervisor & principal certifications from Newark State College.
Ruth was a teacher in the Cranford Schools eventually becoming elementary dept. chairman for Language Arts. She held membership in the AADC (Associate Alumnae of Douglas College, AAVW (American Association of University Women) & St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Elizabeth. Recently she became a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Westfield.
Ruth also was a caregiver of family members for most of her life.
